The further east you go the better the mountain views.  The schools are Mesa View Elementary, Orchard Mesa Middle and Central High School.  Shopping and medical facilities are located in Grand Junction and Clifton.  For restaurants you could go to several good restaurants in Palisade.  A few of my favorites are Palisade Brewing Co., Inari's Palisade Bistro and Caroline's in the Wine Country Inn.  The Colorado River separates East Orchard Mesa from Clifton and Palisade and all the recreational opportunities are around.
