Mesa County Business Internships for Young Adults
Participating businesses are needed to offer opportunities to young adults.
Last year, the Chamber partnered with Hilltop Community Resources and the Mesa County Workforce Center to offer KickStart, a program designed to match out-0f-school, young adults 18-24, with available paid jobs and internships here in Mesa County at no cost to the employer. All labor costs and workers’ compensation are also paid for the pre-determined duration of the position. This is an opportunity for your business to train and develop a successful employee!
Each candidate participates in job readiness workshops covering topics such as communication in the workplace, customer service, conflict resolution, and workplace etiquette. The Hilltop and Workforce Center staff works closely with businesses that participate to ensure that these candidates are suitable for the available position.
The role of the business includes:
- Providing a job description to the KickStart Business Specialist for an available internship position(s).
- Participating in the screening and selection process of the referred client.
- Designating a supervisor/mentor for the intern and complying with applicable employment statutes.
